About Us.
ML Motorsport was set up to provide its customers a place they can bring their pride and joy, whether it be a classic car, racing or a modern prestige model.
Established in 2018; after 20+ years of knowledge and experience, Martin and Amy set up the company to cater for classic car restorations, race preparation, servicing and repairs, all from our workshop south of Edinburgh, Scotland. Our work is achieved together and with the team around us, whom we are proud to introduce as follows:
The ML Motorsport Team.
Martin Leeder - Director
Martin’s passion for cars started from an early age and if he could be in, on, under, or around a car he would be. A love for fast cars led him towards a career doing what he loved most and over the past 20+years has been developing his skill set within the industry from fitting audio systems to fabrication and painting.
A highlight of which, working as head painter for Eagle e-types in East Sussex where his work spoke for itself as the team brought these magnificent cars together.
A life changing move to Scotland brought further experience, skill sets and knowledge and the decision was made; in 2018 Martin and his wife Amy set up ML Motorsport.
Very quickly, Martin gained the trust of many customers asking him to take on their restorations and racing quests and now continues to look forward to the future of ML Motorsport as a small but well regarded family run company.
Amy Leeder - Director
Although Amy’s background is not followed up with a portfolio of car pics, she soon embraced the passion Martin had for fast and loud cars and found herself with a Subaru Impreza WRX which was fully restored and modified by Martin. Amy’s background revolved around dentistry for 17 years. Managing a dental practice for 10 years followed by running her own freelance business.
Combining experiences, it felt right to be setting up ML Motorsport together to allow each other to do what they do best.
Amy can be found in the office managing the other aspects of the business’ needs and accounts.
Sabit Murray - Body Repair Technician
Growing up, Sabit had a love for everything mechanical; whether it was planes, bikes and especially cars. Sabit was initially unsure of what he wanted to do as a career until a vehicle maintenance course was suggested to him. This then reignited his love for the car industry.
After a couple of years at college, Sabit joined us here at ML Motorsport and went on to complete his Body Repair Apprenticeship.
Sabit joined us at a time when as a business we needed to expand and we found Sabit to have the passion for this industry and the drive it takes to produce the quality we require for our customers. As such welcomed Sabit into our team in March 2022.
Sabit has since gone on to learn how to paint and is a credit to the business with his growing skill set and commitment to the projects.
Ethan Gausden - Apprentice Body Repair Technician
From a young age, Ethan has been captivated by cars. Powerful engines, loud revs and intricate designs have fascinated him since a child with many an hour spent looking over car magazines to see the different models and designs people have created.
After finishing school, Ethan completed an accident repair course at college; finally getting to work on cars himself.
During the course, Ethan was able to experience every aspect of working with cars and it was the body work and paint side of things that he found most interesting and enjoyable.
Ethan secured an apprenticeship placement with us here at ML Motorsport, joining the team in May 2024, working alongside Sabit in the body shop and we look forward to what Ethan will achieve and produce in his journey with classic car restorations.
Robbie Carmichael - Mechanical Technician
Robbie has been in the trade for around 13 years starting in an independent garage before moving over to a main dealer.
Robbie describes himself as having always been a petrol head, having a keen interest in classic cars and motorsport and always watching a lot of related programs. So when the position became available; was very keen to join us here at ML Motorsport so as to be able to be more involved in the classic restoration and motorsport work.
As such, you will find Robbie working in the mechanical side of the workshop, taking on the big restoration projects, alongside the service and repair work that comes in.
Robbie joined the team in August 2025 and we welcome his methodical approach to his work along with his experience.
James Davidson - Mechanical Technician
James started working on race cars in 1988 on an ex touring car Ford Capri and for a whole season and then in 1989 got the chance to be part of a race winning sports car team who had two Westfield Sei cars. James went on to work with and race his family’s prepared Formula Ford 1600 single seater and then his race winning formula Opel Lotus.
Having designed, engineered and prepared and raced in Scotland, England and mostly in Northern Ireland, James decided to freelance his services to close friends as a single seater race car engineer with success. James has prepared saloon cars for hill climb and sprint use as well as classic cars in the past alongside working as a modern car vehicle technician.
You will find James in the mechanical workshop, likewise taking on the big restoration projects alongside the service and repair work.
James also joined us in August 2025 as we felt the workshop was in need of a further mechanic to cater for the projects coming in and Jame’s experience was hard to ignore.
Skye, Dougie and Mabe - Official Welcomers
The dogs are always on hand to give a warm welcome to our customers and reps, and they get as much out of it in return as they provide.
Don’t worry though, they have an office to lounge their time away in, should a canine greeter not be your thing.
We also have other highly skilled individuals we can call upon as and when the work depicts it.
